What Is an Indian Visa?

If you are travelling on a tourist visa, you will only be allowed to stay in one city per day and must leave each night. You cannot work while in India and your stay there is limited to six months.
How to Get an Indian Visa
If you are a Portuguese citizen and want to visit India, then you need an Indian visa. If you are a Hong Kong citizen and want to visit India, then you need an Indian visa. The procedure for getting an Indian visa is different for Portuguese citizens and Hong Kong citizens. Let’s take a look at the steps that you need to take to get an Indian visa:
First, you will need to apply online for an Indian visa at the embassy or consulate of India in your country of residence. You will need to provide your passport information, as well as your travel dates. You will also be required to fill out a form asking for details about your trip, such as what city you plan on visiting in India and what type of tourist activities you plan on undertaking. You must also provide documentation that shows that you have sufficient funds available to cover your stay in India and any expenses that may be incurred while traveling there. After submitting your application, you will receive a notification confirming its receipt. You should then check the status of your application online at least once a week. What Types of Indian Visas Are There?
There are many types of Indian visas for citizens of Portugal and Hong Kong, but each visa has its own requirements and benefits. Here is a breakdown of the different types of Indian visas:
Portuguese citizens can apply for a tourist visa to visit India. The visa requires a valid passport and proof of onward travel. The visa allows visitors to stay in India for up to 30 days, although some countries have longer stay limits.
Hong Kong Visa:
Hong Kong citizens can apply for a tourist or business visa to visit India. The visa requires a valid passport and proof of onward travel. The visa allows visitors to stay in India for up to 90 days, although some countries have longer stay limits.
How long does an Indian visa last for?
When travelling to India, Portuguese citizens need a tourist visa which is valid for 30 days. Hong Kong citizens need a visa only if they are travelling to Northern India or Sikkim. If you are travelling to any other part of India, a visa is not necessary.
Can I Apply for Another Type of Indian Visa After Getting a First One?
If you have a valid visa for your destination country, you may be able to apply for an Indian visa extension. However, there are some differences between the Indian visas for Portuguese citizens and Indian visas for Hong Kong citizens.
Indian Visa For Portuguese Citizens
To obtain a Portuguese visa, you must meet all of the following requirements:
Have a passport that is valid for at least six months after your planned departure from India. The validity of your passport should not have expired since your last visit to Portugal.
Have a return ticket or evidence that you will be able to afford to return home. If you do not have a return ticket or sufficient funds to support yourself while in India, you will be required to provide proof of financial sponsorship from a relative or friend in Portugal.
Have no outstanding criminal penalties or civil judgments against you that would prevent you from traveling to India. Convictions that result in a suspended sentence, such as traffic violations, will not prevent you from obtaining a Portuguese visa if the suspension has expired. However, certain convictions, such as felonies, might prevent you from entering India. You will need to provide documentation demonstrating that the conviction does not preclude your entry into India.

If you are a Portuguese citizen, and would like to travel to India for leisure or business purposes, then you will need to apply for an Indian visa. However, if you are a Hong Kong citizen planning on travelling to India for any other reason (including tourism), then you do not need an Indian visa. Both countries have reciprocal visa agreements, which means that citizens of either country can visit the other without having to obtain a separate visa. So if your passport has valid entry stamps from both countries, then you should be able to fly straight into India without any issues!
